My battery has started to drain very quickly - I'm guessing it was related to the latest update - which seems to have been on October 5th, as it used to be fine & could go a couple of weeks or more without charging. (It's mostly to use MS's Authenticator for work).
Current settings:

  • 60hz for the screen.
  • Adaptive brightness
  • Screen off after 30 seconds
  • Bluetooth off unless I need it.
  • Background usage limits - put unused apps to sleep - on.

Battery status

  • Health 100%
  • Cycle count 16
  • Manufacture date 18 September 2026
  • First used 12 April 2026

I could reset to manufacturers settings, but before I do that, any other suggestions?

How long is the battery lasting?
Less than a couple of weeks?

Hi @Champagnedrinker and welcome to the community! We understand how frustrating this can be and would be delighted to assist you!

To add onto @Robin621k's questions:

Have you done a reboot of the tablet?

Does the battery drain when the tablet is in safe mode?

We look forward to hearing back from you!

It used to last a couple of weeks, it now lasts a couple of days - if that.
Interestingly, last night it said 78% when I closed it for the night, and then it'd dropped to 48% overnight ....when I wasn't using it.
I've added some screenshots. I have a few meetings today, so I'm relucatant to test the safe mode as I'm guessing that the MS authenticator won't work during that time.

I haven't added any new 3rd party apps - the only thing that changed was the OS update, which is why I thoguht it might be that. However, what I can do is uninstall everything other than the authenticator for a few daysScreenshot_20261021_084846_Settings.jpgScreenshot_20261021_084745_Device care.jpgScreenshot_20261021_084800_Device care.jpg

Forgot to add, I've also rebooted it; and, I've also now removed all of the tools I've installed other than the Authenticator. (Removed a few Samsung ones that I didn't use while I was at it.)

If it dies again tonight (which would be on par for the last couple of times) I'll try the total rebuild, as I'll be on campus tomorrow, so not needing the authenticator.

I have seen several posts noting that Copilot can drain batteries - so, I've now re-enabled teams (as that was a key reason for getting the tablet in the first place!) but not any of the other MS tools (so, no copilot, no outlook etc) - will see how that goes over the weekend. (Not that I was using copilot anyway)
